Guru's New PDF Library for Certificates and News about Guru for Joomla 3

We’ve just released a new version of Guru for Joomla 2.5. Version 2.2.14 fixes a few bugs and adds an enhancement of the certificate feature. View the change log here.

New PDF Library:

The main improvement on this version is the PDF creation of certificates. We’re using a new PDF library called MPDF that gives much better results when viewing certificates in PDF format. You’ll get better support for different fonts, colors and special characters. How it works The MPDF library is too large to be included in the Guru package. You must install it manually.

Instructions:

1. Download MPDF from our store. You can just add it to the cart and check out. It’s free.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Upload the MPDF folder via FTP to components/com_guru/helpers/
4. Select MPDF from the dropdown menu on the certificate settings page and save the settings.
5. Done!

What’s new with Guru for Joomla 3?

The migration from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3 has proved to be a lot harder than we anticipated. The good news, though, is that we’re nearly there! We have about twenty bugs left to fix then we’ll re-check the 1,000 test cases that we’ve created. The speed with which we can release this new version depends on how many bugs we find and how hard they are to fix.

New Designer and Optimized CSS

We hired a new and excellent designer who’s been working closely with our development team to create the responsive design. As a bonus, he’s also managed to cut the size of the CSS files by an amazing 80 percent! The new Guru will have an updated, Bootstrap-powered design for the front-end pages. We want Guru to look good on every template, so we are doing lots of testing with different templates and template frameworks. That’s all the Guru news for today! Got comments?
