Guru Migration Tool - From Joomla 2.5 to 3.x

Easily migrate your Guru data from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.x

If you think that migrating your site to Joomla 3.x is hard and complicated… you’re right. So we’ve tried to make it easier, at least when it comes to moving your Joomla extensions’ data to the Joomla 3.x platform.

As a user of Guru you’ve probably accumulated a significant amount of data in your on your Joomla 2.5 site. Our new Guru migration tool allows you move that date easily.

Instead of messing with databases and spending lots of time and resources testing and checking and correcting, this tool gets everything done in just thirty seconds!

How It Works

We have two sites:

1. Site A (Powered by Joomla! 2.5)
2. Site B (Powered by Joomla! 3.5)

Follow these steps to migrate Guru database from Site A to Site B:

Site A (Joomla 2.5)

1. Install iJoomla Migrator (com_ijoomlamigrateguru_joomla2.5.zip) on Site A.
2. Go to Components -> iJoomla Migrate
3. Click on EXPORT button (red button) to export Guru database tables.
4. Save guru.zip file on your disk. We will use it later.

Site B (Joomla 3)

1. Install iJoomla Migrator (com_ijoomlamigrateguru_joomla3.x.zip) on Site B.
2. Upload export_guru.php to this directory: administrator/components/com_ijoomlamigrateguru/uploaded_files
3. Go to Components -> iJoomla Migrate
4. Select the uploaded file (guru.zip) and click on START button.
5. Install Guru for J! 3.x and you will see it includes all your courses, students, etc.

Make sure all the data was migrated properly by visiting you iJoomla Guru

Migrate the media files

Download the following directories from the Joomla 1.5 to the same location on Joomla 2.5:

images/stories/guru
media/videos
media/audio
media/documents
media/files

If you miss this step, all the media files will be missing.
